Chocolate Slice

Chocolate Slice
Serves 12 @ 1 point
Serves 10 @ 1.5 points

My changes are suggested in italics.
4 egg whites
1/4 cup sugar (substitute for equivalent in equal or similar)
25g dark chocolate chips, the small ones (omit if you use sugar above)
1/2 cup canned pie apples, no added sugar, pureed (or apple sauce)
1/2 cup skim milk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup diet chocolate topping
1 cup plain flour (I used SR flour)
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 tsp baking powder (I reduced to 1 tsp as that's all I had, with the SR flour)
1/2 tsp bicarb soda
1/4 cup brown sugar

1. Preheat oven to 170 degrees (fan forced). Line a 23cm long slice pan.
2. Beat the egg whites until soft peaks form, then gradually beat in the nutrasweet.
3. Manually fold in the apple, milk, vanilla, and topping.
4. In a separate bowl, sift the flour, cocoa, baking powder and bicarb. Add the brown sugar and choc chips and stir.
5. Fold the flour mixture into the egg mixture gently, until just combined.
6. Spoon into the prepared tin. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked.
