Homemade Pizza - Sunday's Dinner

Sunday Night was pizza night! And we have a little pizza oven, and we now make our own dough. We haven't bought a pizza in the last 8 months since we started making our own, this tastes so much better.

We make 3 pizzas out of it, though the recipe says 2, we prefer ours a bit smaller and thinner. If you make 3 bases, it works out to be 8 points per base. I only added vegies and a tiny bit of light mozzerella, tasty or fetta cheese, so about 10 points all up - much better and healthier than the store bought one! I think it also saves a fortune - as it would only cost around $2 max to make the 2 or 3 bases, and you can just use up whatever left over vegies you have.

2 to 3 cups of plain flour

3 Tbsps Sugar
1 tsp Salt

7 grams Dried yeast

3/4 cup of room temp water

3 Tbsp of Olive Oil

1. Place warm water, a pinch of salt and dried yeast into a small bowl. Let stand for 5 mintues until it foams.

2. Meanwhile, in a large bowl sift 2 cups of flour and add the rest of the dried ingredients.
3. Add the olive oil to the yeast mixture. Make a well in the flour and add the yeast mixture. Mix flour and yeast together. Starting kneading the mixture adding more flour until the dough loses its sticky texture. between 3 and 5 minutes.
4. Shape dough into an ball, flour the base of the bowl and return the dough. Then cover with glad wrap and let rise in a warm place for 40 minutes. The dough should double in size.
5. Pre heat oven to 190 celcius (but we use our pizza oven).
6. Shape the dough into your favourite pizza pan oiled with olive oil. Use a rolling pin to shape. The dough should be about 5 - 10 mm from the edge giving it room to rise.
7. Add your favourite pizza toppings.
8. Spray with a little olive oil around the crust.
9. Bake for 15 - 20 minutes.
Also try garlic powder, oregano, dried chilli flakes and/or black pepper to the base to a little spice.

I used my fabulous new Tupperware server to put all the toppings in, that way we could all choose our own.

For my pizza, I chose fat free sundried tomatoes, baby spinach leaves, mushrooms, onion and roasted pumpkin, sprinkled with oregano. Absolutely DELICIOUS!
